“Best Family-Friendly Fiesta Event”
–San Antonio Current
Approximately 50,000 visitors are expected to attend this fun-filled, family festival on April 25th, as they have on the final Saturday of Fiesta each year since 1968. The King William Fair is the primary fundraising event for the King William Association, a non-profit organization which works to preserve and protect the oldest historic district in Texas and promote the unique cultural heritage of San Antonio. Beginning with a delightfully funky parade, the day-long event offers a variety of art and craft vendors, lively music, dance, Kids Kingdom play area and delicious foods and beverages. But what really sets this event apart is the sparkling beauty of its historic setting near the heart of downtown San Antonio, where the King William neighborhood entices fair-goers to relax and unwind along shady, tree-lined streets adorned with stately Victorian homes, cozy cottages and gracious gardens.
New This Year: The King William Fair Goes Smoke Free!
The King William Fair will create a healthier and more pleasant environment for attendees by becoming a “smoke free” event in 2015. Smoking will be prohibited in all public areas within the Fair Zone.
The King William Association and the Alamo Beard Club have partnered together to bring a contest to the King William Fair! You know the tradition of decorating and wearing outlandish hats during Fiesta. Well now you can put your skills to use by decorating your beard. Andrew Diehl, president of Alamo Beard Club, says “even women with fake beards have been known to participate in their club’s contests”. Want some ideas on how to “freestyle” your whiskers? Alamo Beard Club Annual Beardcon will be held on April 4, 2015 at the 502 Bar located at 502 Embassy Oaks from 7pm to 11pm. More details about how to enter the KW Fair beard contest will be in the KWA April Newsletter.
Come step back in time and enjoy a great time at San Antonio’s most congenial Fiesta event!
